Micaela Mansfield

“I have been a teacher for 10 years and am currently the Curriculum Coordinator for the Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board, with a focus on Kindergarten to Grade 6. In this position, I have the opportunity to lead a variety of innovative projects/initiatives in Literacy, Indigenous Education, Equity and with English Language Learners. My passion for social justice led me to begin a Masters of Professional Education in Equity and Social Justice in September 2017. My pursuit of this graduate program provides me a unique opportunity to address, in combination, those areas of my life in which I feel most passionate – teaching, service and social justice. My interest in using technology to enhance professional practice led me and a colleague to develop an educational assessment app, ‘iCanProgress (iCP)’. iCP is an intuitive platform that uses iPads to their full potential in the classroom, driving authentic assessment by making student learning visible and strengthening communication between teachers, students and parents regarding student progress (https://icanprogress.ca/home/).”
