Tessa is a strong, ambitious leader responsible for creating and implementing strategies to maintain an organization’s profile through dynamic communications, public and media relations using the written word, media, and the planning and execution of internal and external events, news conferences and other public relations functions.
Over the last decade, she has provided incredible efforts to achieving greatness in leadership, community engagement, professional achievement, volunteerism and mentoring in her community. She is a past Board Member for the City of Sault Ste. Marie Historic Sites Board, co-hosts the Easter Seals Ontario local telethon as the live on-air television personality helping to raise critical fund for children and youth with disabilities in her community, she has been the master of ceremonies for various large scale galas, community events and festivals and has mentored young children as an oratorical judge for various elementary school oral competitions and public speaking.
In addition to the extensive volunteerism in her community, Tessa has received a number of awards including the Northern Lights Employee Excellence Award recognizing her exceptional efforts at Sault College, was a recipient of the Marketing Award at the Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce Business Awards and a recipient of the Sault Ste. Marie Innovation Centre’s SSMart Innovation Award in the category of Innovation in Web and Social Media for Sault College. Tessa wholeheartedly exemplifies the characteristics of a great leader and is engaged in her community through her efforts in community improvement and instilling civic pride in others.
Her notable accomplishments epitomize excellence in leadership. Her passion and deep respect of the communications and public relations field, as well as her deeply-held belief in quality service to her community has guided her to the highest ranks of communication leadership.
Throughout the years, Tessa has proudly created thousands of media impressions that included announcements pertaining to millions of dollars in infrastructure projects (ribbon cutting ceremonies, ground breaking announcements) and funding announcements with stakeholders. She has worked with the office of the Prime Minister, Premier of Ontario and Governor General of Ontario’s officials and executed media relations programming that enhance the reputation of her community. She has coordinated visits of various high-level dignitaries to the community including feature film makers and national television personalities.
Tessa obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Western Ontario and received her post graduate in public relations from the University of Victoria. As Communications Officer for Sault College to now Corporate Communications Officer office at the City of Sault Ste. Marie, she has played critical leadership roles in managing countless messages ensuring her City is represented in the best way. With close to a decade of success in the communications industry, Tessa strives to create opportunities while empowering others by showing the world what her community has to offer. A leader of vision, inspiration and determination, Tessa has worked tirelessly and successfully promoting the community in which she is so proud to serve.
